Support Mental Health for NWA Helpers

Michael Turner / Building Resilient Schools: T.I.E.R.S. program

Gap Relief exists to support the mental health and long-term sustainability of helping professions in NWA and across the world. From first responders to aid workers, Gap Relief is providing tangible relief and tools to ensure those who are working in trauma-impacted fields get the help they need to keep serving. One of our most impactful programs, Trauma-Informed Educators Reaching Students (TIERS), seeks to equip teachers and school administrators with the knowledge and tools to manage their own mental health (as well as that of their classroom) in the increasingly challenging classroom environment. About Support Mental Health for NWA Helpers

For three years, our TIERS program has been transforming K-9th grade classrooms in the Springdale School District. Now in our final year, we need your help to keep this vital work going. What We’re Doing: We’re currently serving four schools, providing micro-trainings and consultations built by trauma therapists that equip teachers with skills for managing their own stress and supporting students who arrive in the classroom carrying high stress. The current schools: •K8 Connect •Central Junior High •Westwood Elementary •Tyson Elementary The Impact • Teachers feel supported and equipped to handle classroom challenges • Students stay in their “learning brain” instead of survival mode • Teacher burnout is being prevented in practical, meaningful ways • Students build confidence instead of believing they “can’t do it” Our Goal: We need to raise $50,000 by the end of the year to close the funding gap and continue this program in all four schools. My personal goal is to raise $10,000! Help us keep teachers teaching and students believing in themselves. Boots on the ground ways the money is used: $100 Sensory bag for one student $200 Sandtray kit for one counselor $400 Principal consultations $1600 School-wide training to equip all staff $4400 Teacher support to prevent burnout $40,000 Complete school transformation To learn more about our nonprofit visit www.gaprelief.com
